| Lot description: CILICIA. Casae. Gordian III, 238-244. Diassarion (Orichalcum, 24 mm, 10.88 g, 7 h). AYT•K•M•ANT• ΓOPΔIANOC CEB Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III to right. Rev. KACATΩN Herakles standing front, head to right, holding club in his right hand and lion skin draped over his left arm. SNG Levante 302 (same dies). SNG Paris -. SNG von Aulock -. Extremely rare and perhaps the finest known example. A beautifully struck and really sharp and fresh piece. Minor die break on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine. From the collection of Dr. P.
